Uppsala Castle | 13 September 2025Theme: Artificial Intelligence – Ethics, Challenges, and the Future of Work and Education
We are proud to announce the upcoming edition of the SPOT Nordic Annual Meeting, which will take place on 13 September 2025, in the iconic Uppsala Castle, Sweden.
This gathering brings together Portuguese and Nordic researchers, professionals, policymakers, and institutional partners for a full afternoon of ideas, discussion, and community.
Why This Matters
Artificial Intelligence is reshaping how we work, learn, and govern. From regulation to innovation, education to employment, AI forces us to rethink structures across sectors. This year’s event provides a space to reflect on the ethical, political, and professional dimensions of AI — while also strengthening cross-border collaboration between Portugal and the Nordic region.

13:30 – 14:00 | Registration and Reception: A warm welcome to participants from across the Nordic region and Portugal.
14:00 – 14:15 | Opening Session: Introduction to SPOT Nordic and the goals of this year’s Annual Meeting.
14:15 – 15:15 | Panel Discussion: AI – How to Balance Regulation and Innovation? Governments around the world are racing to regulate AI while also trying to position themselves at the forefront of technological innovation. This session will explore how the State can be both a guardian of public interest and a driver of innovation — addressing the tensions, opportunities, and tools available for a smarter public sector.
15:15 – 15:30 | Break
15:30 – 16:30 | Round Table: How Does AI Shape the Future of Education and the Labour Market? From adaptive learning platforms to automated recruitment and workplace surveillance, AI is already transforming how people are trained, hired, and assessed. This round table will explore the long-term consequences of these shifts and ask: What kind of human-AI collaboration do we want in our classrooms and companies?

16:45 – 17:15 | Pitch Time: What Are You Doing with AI in Sweden? – SPOT Nordic Members: A dynamic and informal session where SPOT Nordic members present short pitches about their work with AI — from startups to research labs to public initiatives. A space for discovery, connection, and visibility.
17:15 – 17:30 | Closing Session: Final reflections and key takeaways from the day.
17:30 – 18:30 | Networking – Drinks & Finger Food. A relaxed moment for networking and community building.
