Under the Support Programme for Portuguese Associations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, SPOT Nordic secured funding for two strategic initiatives PCID (Portugal–Denmark): Science, Innovation and Diplomacy and the Portuguese Young Talent in Denmark Programme, reinforcing institutional cooperation with the Portuguese Embassy in Copenhagen.

SPOT Nordic participated in an institutional meeting at the Portuguese Embassy in Copenhagen, marking an important moment of strategic alignment with Portugal’s diplomatic representation in Denmark. SPOT Nordic expresses its appreciation to Dr. Miguel Pires, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Consular Section, as well as to the Portuguese Embassy in Copenhagen, the Directorate-General for Consular Affairs and Portuguese Communities (DGACCP), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their support and guidance throughout the entire process.

This meeting encompassed not only the formalisation of the support granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, but also the preparation of the institutional agenda associated with the arrival of the new Ambassador, José Pedro Marinho da Costa. This work, developed in coordination with SPOT Nordic, aims to strengthen the integration of the Embassy within Denmark’s science, innovation, and research ecosystems, fostering a more connected engagement with key stakeholders in these domains.

The PCID (Portugal–Denmark): Science, Innovation and Diplomacy project aims to deepen bilateral cooperation in the areas of science, innovation, and public policy, contributing to the establishment of a structured foundation for collaboration and to the strengthening of institutional dialogue between Portugal and Denmark.

In parallel, the Portuguese Young Talent in Denmark Programme aims to promote the valorisation and integration of young Portuguese professionals within the Danish context, fostering skilled mobility and the creation of sustained links between the two countries.

This milestone represents a significant step in consolidating SPOT Nordic as a science diplomacy platform, reaffirming its role in promoting structured connections between Portugal and the Nordic countries, with impact across research, innovation, and talent development.

Within this framework, SPOT Nordic will continue to develop science diplomacy initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation between Portugal and the Nordic countries, promoting collaboration in research and innovation, and contributing to the strategic positioning of Portuguese researchers and professionals within the region’s scientific and technological ecosystems.
