AstroXpats emerges as a point of convergence for the Portuguese community involved in the space sector, whether directly or indirectly. This group aims to stimulate professional interaction, knowledge sharing, and discussion of innovative ideas within the sector.
As its first initiative, AstroXpats has launched the podcast "De olho nas estrelas" (Eye on the Stars), available on Spotify. This project aims to explore the trajectories of Portuguese individuals who stand out in the international space sector, investigating their influence in space and the paths that led them to their current positions. Additionally, the podcast seeks to uncover the visions and aspirations of these professionals for the future and what would motivate them to reconnect with their roots.
In the medium and long run, AstroXpats aspires to strengthen ties with Portuguese individuals working in the space sector abroad, promoting the creation of a robust networking network. The group also plans to attend significant events and conferences, such as the International Astronautical Conference (IAC), scheduled for next year in Milan.

This initiative by AstroXpats is not only about strengthening ties among Portuguese individuals abroad. It also aims to establish a solid connection with the Portuguese space industry, fostering collaboration and facilitating the transfer of skills and knowledge between expatriate professionals and entities in Portugal. In doing so, AstroXpats is also committed to promoting the creation of an expatriate competence center. This joint effort aims to expand and enhance the development of the space sector in Portugal, leveraging the extensive knowledge that Portuguese individuals have acquired in Europe and around the world.
SPOT Nordic not only sees this association with great potential but also seeks to raise awareness of the project among all Portuguese residents in the Nordic countries who work or research in activities related to the sector.
This collaboration aims not only to promote but also to establish a direct channel with the Portuguese expatriate community involved in the space sector, specifically in the Nordic countries. This joint effort will be essential to increase the recognition and visibility of the Portuguese space diaspora.
