SPOT Nordic’s expansion into Norway, marked by the first in-person event in Oslo, signals the start of a new phase in strengthening ties between Portugal and the Nordic countries in the fields of science, innovation, research, and international cooperation.
Following the association’s established growth in Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, SPOT Nordic is now preparing for the official launch of its presence in Norway through an inaugural in-person meeting in Oslo, which will be held under the High Patronage of the Embassy of Portugal in Oslo.
The event will take place on May 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Official Residence of the Portuguese Ambassador in Oslo, bringing together researchers, highly qualified professionals, and members of the Portuguese community involved in the academic, scientific, business, and institutional sectors.
SPOT Nordic began expanding into Norway in 2022 and has been growing its network of members in the region ever since. In November 2025, the first online meeting to establish the local task force in Norway took place, with approximately 20 participants, reflecting the Portuguese community’s growing interest in developing a structured platform for collaboration between Portugal and Norway.
This was followed by a series of meetings with the Portuguese Ambassador to Norway, Pedro Pessoa e Costa, which were also attended by members of the local task force, thus marking the start of planning for an in-person event. More than just an institutional event, this gathering aims to create conditions for the development of new collaboration networks, scientific initiatives, and strategic projects between Norway, Portugal, and the Nordic region, reinforcing the role of the qualified Portuguese diaspora as an international bridge for knowledge, innovation, and scientific diplomacy.
The reception will feature an institutional presentation by SPOT Nordic, an introduction to the activities planned for Norway, and an open session for discussion and networking among participants.
