On Saturday 31 January 2026, SPOT Nordic hosted a parallel Networking Lunch in Copenhagen and Stockholm, bringing together 70 participants across the two Nordic capitals for a shared purpose: professional connection.

The event marked a strong start to SPOT Nordic’s 2026 activities and followed directly from the General Assembly, another event held separately earlier that day, where the formal closure of 2025 and the plans and priorities for 2026 were approved and endorsed by the association’s members. Together, these two moments reflected both institutional continuity and renewed momentum.
This Networking Lunch was fully sold out and attracted a highly representative sample of the SPOT Nordic community. Participants included high-profile researchers, senior private-sector professionals, as well as junior profiles at earlier stages of their careers. A significant share of attendees were new members or individuals who had recently relocated to the Nordic countries, underlining SPOT Nordic’s role as a key point of connection for Portuguese talent in the region, as well as the promising future ahead.

What stood out most was the density and quality of interaction. It was remarkable to see so many participants actively exchanging contacts, some reconnecting with peers, and building new professional links, often literally, phones in hand, connecting on LinkedIn across tables. Creating this kind of critical mass, at the same time and for the same purpose, in two different countries is a strong signal of the maturity and reach of the network.
By hosting the event simultaneously in Copenhagen and Stockholm, SPOT Nordic reinforced its transnational character and its commitment to connecting people and institutions across borders, fields of expertise, and industries. The Networking Lunch served not only as a social moment, but as a practical demonstration of the association’s mission: to foster meaningful professional connections and strengthen the Portuguese community of graduates, researchers, and professionals across the Nordic region.
The event sets the tone for 2026, a year of structural growth for SPOT Nordic, with a reinforced focus on scientific diplomacy and on enabling science-to-industry collaboration through a broad portfolio of high-profile initiatives to be announced throughout the year.
With a continued emphasis on engagement, visibility, and community growth, SPOT Nordic looks ahead to an active year of events and projects, while expanding its presence across the region, with Norway and Finland firmly on the roadmap in addition to Denmark and Sweden.
