SPOT Nordic Participates in Event on Green Transition and Labor Markets in Denmark


On the evening of February 27, the Portuguese Association in Denmark (Portugisisk Forening i Danmark – PFiD) hosted the first Business Talk in Portuguese at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), in collaboration with the CBS Portuguese Society.

Over 30 participants gathered to discuss labor markets in Portugal and Denmark, as well as Portugal’s role in the green transition in the Nordic countries.

SPOT Nordic was represented by Joana Lobo Vicente, former President and Founder of the association, who presented the network’s mission and impact, highlighting the role of the diaspora in promoting sustainability and ecological transition in the Nordic region.

During her presentation, Joana Lobo Vicente highlighted several key themes:

  • SPOT Nordic and the Role of the Portuguese Diaspora: Founded in 2020, the association aims to represent and support highly skilled Portuguese professionals in the Nordic countries, promoting academic, scientific, and business connections.

  • Green Economy and Sustainable Investment: Portugal has made significant investments in the green transition, with 71% of its energy consumption coming from renewable sources. The Nordic countries continue to lead in sustainable solutions, offering opportunities for bilateral collaborations.

  • European Environment Agency (EEA) and Sustainability: The EEA’s role in environmental monitoring and implementation of European policies for ecological transition.

  • Opportunities for the Diaspora in the Circular Economy: The rise of the circular economy in Europe and the growing engagement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in sustainable business models.

Another highlight of the event was the discussion on labor markets in Portugal and Denmark. CBS professor Daniel Borowczyk-Martins spoke about the unique features of the Danish labor market, while participants explored the challenges and opportunities for Portuguese professionals in the region.
