SPOT Nordic was present in Helsinki, Finland, for a day full of activities that strengthened ties between the Portuguese community and local institutions, with the support of the Ambassador of Portugal to Finland, Francisco Vaz Patto.

The morning was dedicated to a productive working meeting at the Embassy of Portugal, where the advances and challenges of SPOT Nordic were discussed. During the meeting, the main milestones of the association since its foundation were presented, as well as the efforts to expand its presence in Finland. One of the central themes was the creation of a local team that can lead and represent SPOT Nordic in Helsinki, thus consolidating the support network for Portuguese researchers and professionals in the country. Collaboration with Finnish research and development entities, in conjunction with the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), was also highlighted.

In the afternoon, the official residence of the Ambassador hosted a lively meeting with Portuguese researchers and graduate professionals living in Finland. This event provided a space for exchange of ideas, sharing good practices and debate on the future of the Portuguese community in the country. Among the various proposals discussed, the strengthening of communication with members through a more structured newsletter and the exploration of partnerships with local associations such as the Ibero-American Group of Finland were highlighted.

With initiatives like this, SPOT Nordic reaffirms its commitment to promoting scientific diplomacy and bringing together the Portuguese who live and work in the Nordic countries. This meeting was another important step in the association’s expansion efforts in Finland, with promising prospects for the future.
