Bolsa Nordic

SPOT Nordic and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) present the Nordic Scholarship. This scholarship, established in 2024 following the Protocol between FCT and SPOT Nordic, aims to establish and develop research links between universities and research institutes in the Nordic countries and Portugal.

The Nordic Grant is a joint initiative between SPOT Nordic and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), established in 2024. The main objective of this Grant is to foster scientific cooperation between Portugal and the Nordic countries, namely Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.

This initiative arises from the need to create and develop robust research links between universities and research institutes in these countries and Portugal. The Nordic Scholarship aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and technological innovations, in addition to strengthening existing strategic partnerships and creating new opportunities for collaboration. International cooperation is essential to face global challenges and promote scientific advances that benefit all parties involved.

The Nordic Grant is aimed at Portuguese researchers in the 3rd cycle of studies or post-doctorate, who present collaborative projects with institutions in the Nordic countries. At least one co-investigator must be based in the partner country. In 2025, two scholarships of €6,000 each will be awarded. The projects will have a minimum duration of 2 months and can be combined with other support, depending on the period of the scholarship. Applicants must submit a detailed research plan, with selection based on scientific merit and potential impact. Projects will be monitored regularly, with progress reports assessed by the SPOT Nordic Scientific Board. The total budget available for scholarships is €12,000, covering expenses directly related to research.
