A Portuguese scientific entrepreneur and one of the most prominent rising stars in European biotechnology, Fábio Rosa was recently honored with the title of Honorary Member of SPOT Nordic. This appointment recognizes his track record of international excellence and his contribution to promoting Portuguese talent within the scientific and business ecosystems of the Nordic countries.
His connection to Scandinavia was solidified through Sweden, where he built a high-impact career in the life sciences sector. He is currently Vice President and Head of Research at Asgard Therapeutics, a biotechnology company founded by three Portuguese entrepreneurs dedicated to developing innovative cancer therapies using advanced cell reprogramming technologies.
Under his scientific leadership, Asgard Therapeutics has established itself as one of the most promising projects in the Nordic life sciences ecosystem, demonstrating how academic research of excellence can be transformed into clinical innovation with potential global impact.

In parallel with his international work in Sweden, Fábio Rosa is also a co-founder and member of the board of directors of BRT Blood Reprogramming Technologies Lda, a Portuguese technology-based company dedicated to developing innovative solutions in the field of cell reprogramming and biotechnology applied to healthcare.
Headquartered in Cantanhede, one of Portugal’s leading hubs for innovation in the life sciences, BRT underscores Fábio Rosa’s enduring connection to Portugal and his commitment to advancing scientific knowledge through the creation of technology companies with international potential.
The award presented by SPOT Nordic reflects recognition of a journey that combines scientific excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to transform knowledge into concrete solutions. At a time when Europe is increasingly investing in deep tech innovation and technological sovereignty in healthcare, Fábio Rosa’s work demonstrates how Portuguese talent can lead projects with global impact from the Nordic countries.
After earning his degree in Portugal at the University of Coimbra, where he studied biology and biochemistry, Fábio Rosa went on to pursue further specialization at Lund University, where he earned a Ph.D. in biomedicine.
Throughout his career, he has received international recognition by being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in the Science & Healthcare category in 2020, and by receiving the Innovation and Science Award from the Danish Institute for Bioinnovation in 2026.
Fábio Rosa’s collaboration with SPOT Nordic included speaking at the organization’s events, where he shared his experience in scientific entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and the internationalization of deep tech innovation.
