Bolsa Nordic SPOT 2025: Opportunity for Portuguese researchers in the Nordic Countries

SPOT Nordic is pleased to announce the 2025 edition of the Nordic Grant, a research grant program aimed at Portuguese PhD students and researchers. This program offers a unique opportunity to develop research projects at universities and research centers in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Objective of the Nordic Fellowship
The Nordic Fellowship aims to foster scientific collaboration between Portugal and the Nordic countries, providing researchers the chance to undertake two research visits lasting from 2 to 6 months. Each fellowship offers financial support of €6,000, totaling €12,000 per year, funded by SPOT Nordic and the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must be PhD students or researchers who obtained their PhD within the past five years. In addition, they must be affiliated with a Portuguese higher education institution and be members of SPOT Nordic.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on the relevance and quality of the project, experience and qualifications of the host researcher, the candidate’s academic and extracurricular achievements, and the potential impact of the project on the candidate’s professional development. Applications will be reviewed by SPOT Nordic’s Scientific Council.

The application period is open from October 17 to November 17, 2025. Applications must be submitted through the form available on the SPOT Nordic website. Required documents include the candidate's CV and motivation letter, and the CV and support letter from the host institution’s researcher.
